Music

At Marymount we  try to avail of as many opportunities as possible to broaden our students' experiences in this area.

Children from Junior infants to 6th class follow the Dabbledoo music programme which engages with all aspects of the music curriculum in a fun and engaging way.

Children from junior infants to 1st class also participate in Music Generation. Music Generation is a national partnership programme whose mission is to create inspiring experiences for children and young people through music.

Children in senior classes have the opportunity to be part of the school choir. The choir sings at many school events such as Confirmation, Communion, Christmas Carol Service and School Coffee Mornings as well as partaking in external events such as Sing Out Loud, Songs & Strings from across the Boyne, Community Coffee mornings and the turning on of the Christmas lights.

Throughout the year we often run workshops exploring different areas of music eg Drumming workshop, tin whistle lessons, Let’s explore Music workshop

Drama

Children participate in drama lessons in class. These can be integrated into other subject areas such as music, Art, PE and English. All students partake in the annual Christmas show, which is lots of fun for students and parents. Senior students put on an end of year Talent Show, where they get to showcase their many talents.
